BLAINE - Gary H. Pierce, 62, passed away Feb. 7, 2013, at The Aroostook Health Center, Mars Hill. He was born June 28, 1950, in Presque Isle, the son of Wendell and B. Marie (Sylvester) Pierce.

Gary's true passion was developing the family business: Bigrock ski area in Mars Hill. He spent countless hours on the mountain working to ensure that it was meticulously prepared for family enjoyment. He had a zest for life, was known for being the life of the party, and will be fondly remembered by his many friends.

He is survived by his parents of Blaine; a son, Jonathan Pierce and his wife, Darica, of Mount Holly, Vt.; a daughter, Erin Pierce of Presque Isle; three sisters, Sue Dearborn and her husband, Dwayne, of Virginia Beach, Va., Joy Towle and her husband, Earl, of Fryeburg and Gayle Pierce of Anchorage, Alaska; a granddaughter, Hailey Pierce; and his former wife, Kristi Pierce of Somerville, Mass. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Mary Ann.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, where a celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.
