PORT ORANGE, Fla. - Gardner Edward Reed passed away Thursday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2013, at his residence. Born on Jan. 21, 1928, he was the youngest of 12 to join the Reed family.

Gardner attended Brewer schools, served his country proudly during World War II in the U.S. Merchant Marine, and owned and operated Reed's Auto Body, where he was known for his honesty and forthright business practices until his retirement. He liked riding his snowmobile, hunting, golfing, playing pool, and spending quality time with family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Anah Temple of the Shrine in Bangor.

He is survived by his current wife, Lona (Igoe) Reed; twin daughters, Carol Jo Archer and husband, Tim, and Cheryl Jean Lynch and husband, Tom; son, David and his wife, Patricia; Peggy (Black) Conner, sister; Gerry Henkener, sister; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Clare Reed; and one grandson, Scott Reed.
