MILFORD and ORONO - Frederick J. Street Jr., 78, died Jan. 9, 2013, with his family by his side at his residence, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 9, 1934, in Brewer, a son of Frederick Sr. and Doris (Brace) Street.

For the majority of Fred's life he drove a truck, first hauling pulp and grain, 22 years at Goldsmith Furniture, Champion Bus Co. and Street's Landscaping Co. He and his wife, Eleane, spent 16 winters in Zephyrhills, Fla., where he enjoyed shuffle board, pool and cards, and enjoyed monthly dances and jam sessions. He was an avid Boston sports fan supporting the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. He liked camping, hunting and taking trips.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Eleane June (Ashey) Street of Orono; children, Debbie Whitman and fiance, Bob Dorr, of Hermon, Tom Street and wife, Cherie, of Glenburn, Tim Street and his wife, Celia, of Greenbush, and Sandee Griffith and husband, Isaiah, of Old Lyme, Conn.; stepchildren, Ranee Dow and husband, Linwood, of Alton, Jason Street and wife, Melinda, of Upper Montclair, N.J., Wayne Johnson of Glenburn, and Blaine Harvey and his wife, Carol, of Hermon; siblings, Marlene Dunigan and husband, Bart, of Enfield, Conn., Clarence Street and wife, Anna, of Lubec, and Ralph Street and wife, Audrey, of Milford; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special cousins, Carlene Upton and Theresa Schlick, both of Brewer; and special longtime friend, Freeman Cote of Milford. He was predeceased by his parents; stepsons, Gary Johnson and Steven Harvey; and sister, Dorothy Dionne and husband, Ray. The family extends a warm heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and nurses at CancerCare of Maine, and Home, Health and Hospice of St. Joseph.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. A gathering and celebration of Fred's life will be announced at a later date. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Notes of condolences may be left at
