MEDWAY - Frederick E. "Freddie" Stanley, 59, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, after a short illness at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1953, in Medway, son of Carroll H. and Emma L. (Lee) Stanley.

Freddie grew up in Medway, and was a graduate of Schenck High School, class of 1972. While in high school, he was involved in sports, especially running track. He was elected as "Winter Carnival King" in 1972. Freddie was an avid sports fan, and if there wasn't a sporting event being watched on his television, he was enjoying his outlaw country music or bluegrass music. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, mowing his lawn on his tractor in the warmer months and snowblowing his driveway in the wintertime. Freddie will be remembered as a big hearted man, who looked out for his neighbors and made sure their yards were kept up as his own. He loved having campfires in his yard, and spending time with his friends and family. His absence will be particularly noted at Lennie's Superette in Medway.

Freddie is survived by three daughters, Mellissa Stanley and Michelle Pelkey of New Hampshire, Michelle Stanley and Jesse Dumais of Medway, and Emmalee Stanley and Jeffrey Daigle of Sparks, Nev.; six grandchildren, Bailey and Matthew Chamberlain, Luc Dumais, Riley Desavage, Abigail Lamport, and Aubrii Miksa; siblings, Carole Pelkey and husband, Robert, Paulette Lakeman, Sherry McLaughlin and husband, Merle, Michael Stanley and wife, Marlene, James Stanley and wife, Kathy, Thomas Stanley and wife, Lillian, Joel Stanley and wife, Laurie, Greg Stanley and his Karen, all of Medway, and Cindy Plourde and husband, David, of West Enfield; special sister-in-law, Linda Stanley Theriault of Medway; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, too numerous to list. He will also be missed by his special companion, Joan English of Millinocket; and the mothers of his children, Debbie Stanley of Millinocket and Ellen Tozier of Rossville, Ga. In addition to his parents, Freddie was predeceased by a brother, Jeffery Stanley, whose children Freddie always looked out for and formed a special bond with, Lisa Taylor, Jeff Stanley, Lori Stanley, Carroll Stanley and Christina Elward, as well as their spouses, children and grandchildren.

Freddie's family invites family and friends to gather at a service of remembrance 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at
