VERONA ISLAND - Ellie Gray lost her battle with cancer on Nov. 1, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was 58 years old.

She ran Ellie's Ceramics for 25 years on Verona Island, then worked at McDonald's in Bucksport for 10 years where she made many friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Lysle Rankin; her stepfather, Bud Libby; and her two beloved brothers, Edward, and Jeff Rankin. She leaves behind her mother, Ferne Libby of Stillwater; her only aunt, Laura Ross of Florida; in-laws, Harlan and Dawn Gray of Swanville; sisters-in-law, Tena Rankin of Milbridge, and Cindy Rankin of Orland; and brothers-in-law, Brian Gray of Hermon, and Shawn Gray of Holden. She leaves behind sisters, Pat Fournier of New Hampshire, and Nettie Shields of Bangor, to whom she couldn't have done this without Nettie by her side. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is also survived by the love of her life, her husband, Michael Gray of 41 years; and her children whom she adored, Michelle Grindle and husband, Jason Grindle, of Bucksport, and Kimberly Gray of Bucksport. Also her precious grandchildren who made life worthwhile, Kaylee Nicole Grindle, Lindsey Taylor Grindle, and Cooper Michael Stone who have made great strides in their lives. May you live and grow healthy and know that Nana is always watching over you.
She is also survived by her best friend of Verona, Debbie Howes.
She leaves two of the best cancer doctors in the world of whom did the best for her and she loved very much, Dr. Snyder and Dr. Rueter of Cancer Care of Maine. Donations may be made in Ellie's honor to Cancer Care of Maine.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Nov. 9, at Franklin Street Methodist Church. A reception will immediately follow at her daughter's home at 8 Cedar St., Bucksport.
