MERIDEN, Conn. - Effie Darlene Green, 90, formerly of 199 Paddock Ave., wife of the late Earl F. Green, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Midstate Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Cloverdale, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Winslow and Flora (Rogers) Webber.
She had resided in Aroostook County, moving to Meriden, Conn., in 1950. She graduated from Bridgewater Classic Academy, Bridgewater. Mrs. Green was employed by Schwink's Dairy and then by Schwink's Convenience Store, Meriden, Conn. Her hobbies included quilting, embroidery and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy and Robert Thiede of Durham, Conn.; her son, Kevin and Rose Green of Meriden, Conn.; six grandchildren, Karl and Carla Thiede, Roxanne Thiede-Kolman, John and Lucinda Thiede, Kevin Green, Kyle and Allison Green, and Lyndsi Green; three great-grandchildren, Brianna Green, James and Crystal Kolman; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Helen Thorne of Bridgewater. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Edward Green.
There will be a private graveside service at Gethsemane Cemetery with the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of John J.
