BANGOR - Senior Master Sgt. Douglas A. Morris Jr., U.S. Air Force, retired, husband of Linda P. Morris, died July 7, 2013. He was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Boston, to Douglas A. Morris Sr. and Edith (Bernazzani) Morris.

He was raised by an aunt and uncle, Storey and Alma Jones of Bangor. Douglas graduated from Bangor High School in 1946 and joined the U.S. Air Force. He had many assignments during his 30 years in the Air Force, including World War II, Korean War and Vietnan War. He was an aircraft mechanic and crew chief. Upon retiring, he worked at Eastern Maine Community College for 14 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a dedicated troop greeter.
In addition to his wife, Linda of Bangor, Douglas is survived by his children, Vicki Somers and husband, Michael, Karen Kenyon, Douglas A. Morris III, Donald Morris, David Morris and wife, Dana, and Dale Morris and wife, Kara; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sister, Marie Lawrence and husband, Basil, of Canada; two brothers, Richard Morris and Robert Morris; brother-in-law, Wesley Scott of Northampton, Mass.; and cousin, Oliver Monteith and family. Douglas was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Barbara (Roberts) Morris; and daughter, Pamela (Morris) Weathers.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at First United Methodist Church, Bangor. Interment with military honors will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
