LINCOLN - Donald R. "Dee Dee" Lyons, 82, husband of Pauline (Knights) Lyons, died peacefully Jan. 1, 2013, at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, after a struggle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born May 28, 1930, in Lincoln, the son of Ernest and Verna Lyons.

Dee Dee was a 1949 graduate of Mattanawcook Academy. He served two tours in the U.S. Navy. He was involved in his community in many ways and touched many lives, serving as a scout master for the local Boy Scouts, and as a member of the JayCee's, and Lincoln Chapter No. 112, Order of the Eastern Star. He also helped start Lincoln Maine Federal Credit Union, and was a life member of the American Legion. He was a member of Horeb Lodge No. 93 AF & AM and was very active in the Shrine and Northern Penobscot Shrine Club. Dee Dee worked as an electrical instrument technician at LP&P, Great Northern and SAPPI, retiring in 1995. After his retirement, he spent all of his time at his camp in Lee.

In addition to his wife, Pauline of Lincoln; he is survived by two children, Donald Lyons Jr. and his wife, Rosa, of Skowhegan and Ricky Lyons and his wife, Lisa, of Coopersburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Christina Doore and her husband, David, of Enfield, Nicholas Lyons and his wife, Heather, of Durham, Katrina Lyons of Bangor, Sarah and Emily Lyons of Coopersburg, Pa.; four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Isaac Doore of Enfield and Rylie and Eben Lyons of Durham; a sister, Mariel Knights and her husband, Arnold, of Lincoln; a sister-in-law, Shirley Lyons of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Bradley; and brothers, Ervin "Goose" Lyons and Raymond Lyons.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, with a Masonic funeral being held at 7:30 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Roy Richardson officiating. Spring interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Shriners Children's Hospital.
