VAN BUREN - Dean G. Simpson, 78, died peacefully Oct. 15, 2013, at a Caribou health care facility. He was born July 6, 1935, in Monroe, N.C., a son of Margaret D. Simpson and stepfather, Thomas Hall.

He worked many years with Murray Printing, Westford, Mass., until his retirement in 1988 due to poor health. He and his wife relocated to Van Buren in 2001.
Dean is survived by: his wife of 44 years, Joyce (Ayotte) Hall; seven children, Dean Simpson of Raleigh, N.C., Camilla Hill and her husband, Shawn, of Greenville, N.H., Gordon Hastings of Van Buren, Evelyn Hastings of Derry, N.H., Gloria Dustin and her husband, David, of Van Buren, Nicholas and Hanna Simpson, both of Van Buren; one sister, Carol Clapp of Massachusetts; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his close friends, Richard Brown, Scott Michaud, Mark and Zack. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Parker.
Family and friends may call noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Grande Riviere Cemetery, Van Buren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dean's name may be made to:
