LEWISTON - Dr. David "Cap'n Dave" Allen Ingraham, 69, went home to be with the Lord April 27, 2012, at a Lewiston health care facility from complications of diabetes and congestive heart failure. He was born Aug. 17, 1942, in Old Town, to Theodore A. and Imelda (Godin) Ingraham. David spent his youth in Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School. In Downeast Maine David gained notoriety as "The Maine Balladeer" by performing songs he composed about the people and places he loved most. In 1980 David moved to Dallas to attend Dallas Bible College, where he earned a bachelor's degree and a doctorate in theology. Throughout his lifetime, he wrote numerous booklets and produced hundreds of radio programs about theology and Bible prophecy. David served as pastor for Chesterville and North Chesterville Baptist churches, Chesterville; New Life Bible Church, Bracey, Va.; and Richmond Corner Baptist Church, Richmond. David is survived by his sister, Marlene Sprague of Bar Harbor; four children, Dwayne Doane, Randy Ingraham, both of Ellsworth, Glenn Ingraham of Jacksonville, N.C., and Bethany Ingraham of Standish; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; nephews, John Sprague of Cushing and Kevin Sprague of Bar Harbor; and niece, Kim Sprague Newman of Goose Creek, S.C. There will be a celebration of David's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to cover his final expenses and arrangements may be sent to Bethany Ingraham, P.O.
