WINTERPORT - Clyde George Coombs, 76, passed away peacefully March 7, 2012, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, Boston. He was the son of the late Virginia Belle Bassett and John Coombs. He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS Wasp. He was a career woodsman and loved nature. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Frances Guptill; and special friend, Roberta. He is survived by his children, Darlene Gladu and husband, Mike, Wayde Coombs, Lydia French and husband, Darrell, and Virginia Coombs; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Lewis and her children and grandchildren. At his request, there will be no public viewing hours.
