BELFAST - Cleola I. (Stevens) Colby Winters, 89, passed away May 16, 2012, in Belfast. She was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Fort Fairfield, to Miles and Deleno (McDougal) Stevens. She enjoyed sewing, and her flower and vegetable gardens. Cleola also had a passion for music, piano and singing. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 19 Arbutus Chapter, as well as Liberty Baptist Church and Montville Grange. She will be remembered by many for her service as a hot lunch cook at Walker School. Cleola also enjoyed traveling and loved people. She attended Fort Fairfield schools as well as Walker High School, Liberty. She also worked for Waldo County Home Health as a certified nurse's aide. She was predeceased by her parents; husband of 31 years, Lloyd Colby; second husband, Paul Winters in 2001; children, Jane Prive and Owen Colby; and brother, Vaughn Stevens. Cleola is survived by her children, Sewell Colby and companion, Patricia Wahl, of Liberty, and Avis Canty and husband, Richard, of South Portland; stepdaughters, Sharon Theofraustos of Scarborough and Brenda Bailey of Massachusetts; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and six great-stepgrandchildren. Burial will be held at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
