EDDINGTON - On April 26, 2012, Charlotte Ann Tate joined her beloved husband of 50 years, William E. Tate, in the peace and comfort of our heavenly father. Charlotte was born March 26, 1936, in Veazie, to Gerry and Lillian Martin. Charlotte lived in Boston with her parents before returning to Maine and settling in Orono. Charlotte graduated from Orono's Catholic high school in June 1954. She married William E. Tate of Orono April 12, 1958, and she was a dedicated wife, mother and Nanna. After moving her young family to Eddington, she served for many years beside her husband as the duty town clerk. She and Ed served the town out of their house before a permanent town office was built. Charlotte is survived by her children, William E. Tate Jr. and wife, Stacy, of Cumming, Ga.; her daughters, Karen L. Osborne and husband, Jeff, of Eddington and Kristine L. Chapman and partner, Robert Dow, of Glenburn; grandchildren, who fondly called her "Nanna," Meghan and spouse, Nick Fox, Kasey and Jacob Chapman, and Emily and Will Tate; and great-grandchildren, Lilly and Claire Fox and Kamdon Weymonth. Charlotte was predeceased by her grandson, Matthew R. Osborne, in 2007. The family gives special thanks to New Hope Hospice, Eddington, and Loving Touch, Bangor, because through their help Charlotte was able to return home and be surrounded by the love and care of her children and grandchildren. A private burial will be held at a later date at Jonathan Eddy Cemetery, Eddington. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Services, Bangor and Brewer. Condolences to her family may be offered at www.kileyandfoley.com.
