OAKFIELD - Carroll Hersey, 85, went to be with his Lord July 18, 2012, in Oakfield. He was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Oakfield, the son of Hartwell and Winnie (Chase) Hersey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Viola (Sanders) Hersey of Oakfield; children, Elana Alden, Carolee Slauenwhite, Sherry Emery, Amber White, Leanna Hersey, Chris and Kevin Hersey; three stepdaughters, Phyllis Nadeau, Lee Kennedy and Jerral Rockwell; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and two brothers, Perley Hersey and Lewis Webber. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Gloria Noyes; and siblings, Ira and Ernest Hersey, Lillian Bartlett and Avie Basternash. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Dyer Brook Community Church with the Rev. Richard Rockwell officiating. Interment will be at Merrill Cemetery.
