LUBBOCK, Texas - Brian "Red" Smith, 63, formerly of Mapleton and beloved husband of 43 years to Sue Pendexter Smith, passed away Jan. 1, 2013, surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was born Jan. 9, 1949, in Presque Isle.

Brian graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1967. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR, and was most happy being with his family.

Brian was predeceased by his father, Floyd Smith. He is survived by his mother, Marion Manter and stepfather, Jerome Manter. In addition to his wife, Sue, he is also survived by his children, Sarah Smith, and Todd Smith and wife, Robin, of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, Chelsea, Cheyene, Kassie, Tristen, Shelbi and Morgan; and three sisters, Adrienne Morang of Windsor, Conn., Bonnie Glidden of South China, Maine, and Diane Monahan of Presque Isle.

Brian's life will be celebrated at his favorite fishing spot in the summer. In lieu of donations to charities, please consider contributions to the family for services previously held in Brian's memory care of Todd Smith, 3602 58th St., Lubbock, TX 79413.
