MADISON - Beverly J. Byron died Feb. 6, 2013, at Mercy Hospital, Portland, after a short illness. She was born Aug. 3, 1925, in West Sullivan.
She attended Sullivan High School and held an honorary degree from Husson College. Beverly moved to Madison in 1947, which she was pleased to call her hometown, and where she cherished her many friends.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, James J. Byron; her parents, Bernhard D. Joy and Gladys W. Joy; and brother, Bernard W. Joy. She is survived by nephews and nieces by marriage, Robert Byron and wife, Jamie, of North Yarmouth, Stephen Byron and wife, Linda, of Upton, Mass., Edward Byron and wife, Donna, of Lilburn, Ga., MaryBeth Byron Mondello of North Reading, Mass., Diane Byron Cooney of Billerica, Mass., Kathleen Byron DallaCosta and husband, Everett, of Clearwater, Fla., Peter James Byron of Weymouth, Mass., Greg Byron of Weymouth, Mass., Michael Byron of Weymouth, Mass., Judith Byron of Weymouth, Mass., Mari Byron Abbott of Weymouth, Mass., and Toni Byron Orr and husband, Thomas, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 21 great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will have a graveside service in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Hancock. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation or memorial contribution to Madison Woman's Club Library Trust Fund, care of Trustees of Madison Public Library, 12 Old Point Ave., Madison, ME 04950. Arrangements are by A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland.
