Barbara was a graduate of Madison High School and worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during World War II. Following the war she met Earle Cunningham, just home from the war, and they were married in December 1945. They made their home in Bucksport where Barbara was an active member of Elm Street Congregational Church for many years. Together she and Earle traveled extensively in Canada and the United States, visiting all of the lower 48 states. They enjoyed spending summers at camp on Toddy Pond and later spending winters in Mount Dora, Fla., where Barbara was a member of the Mount Dora Shuffleboard Club, competing in tournaments throughout central Florida. She loved discussing current events, visiting family and friends and helping out at Silveridge Farm. Barbara worked in the Bucksport school lunch program, retiring as head cook at the high school cafeteria.
Barbara is survived by her loving companion, Marvin Parker and his family of Leslie, Mich.; daughter, Earlene Chasse and husband, Robert, of Bucksport; son, Brian Cunningham and fiancée, Christie Hurd, of Stanfield, N.C.; grandchildren, Brent Chasse, Suzanne Davis, Kelly Mastran, April Cunningham and Sarah Cunningham; and twelve great-grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her parents; husband of 54 years, Earle Cunningham; grandson, Christopher Cunningham; and siblings, Dorothy Jones, Edith Cunningham and Daniel Irving Walker.
Private graveside services will be held for the family. Memorial contributions in Barbara's memory may be made to Allegiance Hospice Home, 2150 Kingsbrooke Drive, Jackson, MI 49202.
