NEW SWEDEN - Barbara E. Chaney, 81, died May 21, 2012 in Caribou. She was born March 20, 1931, in Caribou, daughter of Raymond and Delina (Bossie) Watson. She was a graduate of Caribou High School and was employed at Public Finance and Aroostook Trust Co. for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Christian Life Assembly Church, Presque Isle. Barb was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She married Kenneth Chaney, Oct. 31, 1952. Surviving, in addition to her husband, Ken of New Sweden; are her daughter, Ruth Hood and husband, Michael, of Lincoln, Neb., and their children, Carrie and Caitlin Hood, both of Columbia, Md., and Kristin Hood of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; 10 brothers, Charlie Watson, George Watson, both of Palmyra, Terry Watson of Pensacola, Fla., Herman Watson of Corinna, Raymond Watson Jr., Frank Watson, both of Pittsfield, Dale Watson of Carmel, Murray Watson of St. Albans, John Watson of Napa, Calif., and Tom Watson of Belle View, Fla.; five sisters, Lydia LaBree of Palmyra, Betsy Warner of Plymouth, Harriett Chalbeck of Candia, N.H., Patricia West of State College, Pa., and Louise Savage of Stetson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, James, George and William Watson; and sister, Lillian Watson. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, in the chapel.
