BREWER - Anna M. Parlee, 91, passed away peacefully May 1, 2013, at an Ellsworth health care facility. She was born Oct. 21 1921, in Berlin, N.H., daughter of Charles L. and Harriett (Hazelwood) Welch, and raised by Margaret Clancey.

She graduated from John Bapst High School in 1940. Anna started working with Bell as a telephone operator along with jobs at Pepsi-Cola, Freezes and Superior Paper. More recently she worked at Walmart, Bangor, as the telephone operator. Anna was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and for a period enjoyed making gifts with ceramics. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored.

Anna was predeceased by her husband whom she was married April 3, 1945, John R. Parlee Jr.; son, John R. Parlee III; brothers, Robert and James Welch of Malden, Mass.; and sister, Margaret Baker of Medford, Mass. She is survived by her son, Wayne A. Parlee and wife, Deborah, of Mount Desert; sister, Elizabeth Creighton of Medford, Mass.; five grandchildren, Marjorie Parlee and husband, Harry Martyn, Stephen Parlee and wife, Elizabeth, of Brewer, Wade E. Parlee and companion, Marcye Ray, of Empire, Colo., Jennifer M. Parlee and companion, Jack Hopkins, of Hampden and Mark J. Furrow of Mount Desert; great-grandchildren who were the light of her life, Tayla and Cady Parlee, and Baylee Ray of Empire, Colo., Lily and Emilia Baker of Hampden and Gwyneth Parlee of Brewer; daughter-in-law, Anita Parlee of Bangor; special niece, Diane O'Brien of Medford, Mass; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Woodlawn Cemetery, North Main Street, Brewer. A celebration of life service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at St. Saviour's Parish, 41 Mount Desert St., Bar Harbor.
