BANGOR - Alice Victoria (Estey) Lunn England, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully Jan. 18, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born April 28, 1927, in Turlock, Calif., to Wilmot and Myrtle Estey, the fifth of six children.

While still quite young, Alice moved with her family back to their native New Brunswick. Alice grew up in the tiny village of Gregg Settlement on the family farm. She truly loved her childhood which consisted mostly of the love and affection of a large family pitching in together to manage the rigors of maintaining a large farm. Tragically, Alice lost her father when she was 17, which left this large family faced with extremely difficult times. This unfortunate event brought the family even closer. Always an excellent student with perfect penmanship, Alice began school in a one-room schoolhouse. She later graduated from Centerville High School. Her heart was set on a nursing career and she entered nursing school right after high school. She never completed her nursing studies however, since a young soldier named Harold Lunn returned home from World War II and persuaded Alice to marry him. They were married in December, 1945 and started a family that eventually totaled five children. The Lunn family moved from New Brunswick to Brewer, in late 1957. In addition to raising her family, being a great cook and impeccable home maker, Alice also worked at various times at what was then Eastern Maine General Hospital and finally at the Ross Home. After her first marriage ended in divorce in 1974, Alice later married Robert England, in 1977. During their marriage, Alice and Bob resided primarily in Ocala, Fla. The warm and pleasant climate in Florida afforded Alice the opportunity to hone her gardening skills, particularly growing flowers, which were substantial. Bob passed away in 1999 whereupon Alice returned to Maine.

Alice was predeceased by her parents; son, Brent Allen; sister, Madeline Baird; sister, Irene Smalley; brother, Patrick Estey; husband, Harold; and husband, Robert. Alice is survived by her four children, H. David Lunn of Bangor, Lawrence A. Lunn of Bangor, Katherine Cheryl Rockwell and husband, Larry Rockwell, of Hudson, Fla., and Gregory N. Lunn and wife, Tammy Lunn, of Brewer; brothers, Wilmot "Buddy" Estey of Arkport, N.Y., and Frederick Estey of Fair Port, N.Y.; favorite nephew, James "Jimmy" Simonson of Centerville, New Brunswick; many other beloved nieces and nephews. Alice was blessed with many grandchildren including James Lunn of Bangor, Christopher Lunn of Portland, Chelsea Lunn of Brewer, Fallon Rockwell of Brooksville, Fla., Ryan Rockwell and wife, Asia Rockwell, of Norfolk, Va., Erin Lunn of Austin, Texas, Kendall Lunn of Worcester, Mass., and Johanna Lunn of Bangor. Alice's great-grandchildren include Alexis Patterson of Brewer, David Greenwald of Brooksville, Fla., and Alik Rockwell of Norfolk, Va. Alice's family joins in thanking the staff at Ellen Leach Home, Brewer and, finally, Westgate Manor, Bangor, where Alice resided at the time of her death.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev.
