CLINTON, Conn. - Alice Rose Porter (McLaughlin), 83, passed away May 11, 2013, at Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Conn., after a brief illness. She was a longtime resident of Lincoln and Clinton, Conn.

She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond McLaughlin and Ida (Grant) McLaughlin; as well as her beloved husband, Oakley John Porter Sr.; daughter, Jessica Faye Porter; son, Oakley John Porter Jr.; and siblings, Ruth Sherwood, Pauline Williams and Charlie McLaughlin. She is survived by siblings, Sadie Ogden and Flora Ogden; children, Eyvonne Taylor and husband, Charles, of Virginia, Veronica Handy and husband, Michael, of Maine, Marie Brockett-Field and husband, Newton, of Connecticut, and Dale Porter and special friend, Jodi Ciccarelli, of Connecticut; and special daughter-in-law, Tina Porter of Maine. In addition, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and they were truly the light of her eyes.
A graveside service will be held in her honor 1 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Mount Repose Cemetery, Burlington, next to her beloved husband.
