LAMOINE - Albert Herrick, 86, died Aug. 3, 2012, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born Nov. 13, 1925, in New Brunswick, son of Frank L. and Annie M. (Garland) Herrick.
The Guest Book is expired.
Growing up, Albert told of how they caught fish, trapped animals and had large gardens to feed the family, and he continued his love of the outdoors. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a former registered Maine guide. He owned and operated Lamoine Kennels for many years. Before having his own kennels, he worked as a veterinary assistant in Ellsworth. He enjoyed going on many moose hunting trips with his son, David's family. Albert was a member of Lamoine Fire Department and cooked many meals there, but was famous for his clam chowder. He also belonged to Lamoine Grange and Lamoine Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, David Herrick and wife, Julie; daughter, Susan Sanchez and husband, Jim, all of Lamoine; and grandchildren, David Herrick Jr., Anne Herrick and Jordin Sanchez. He will be greatly missed by his special feline friend, Oscar. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Hildred (Jordan); daughter, Julie Anne; brother, Edwin Herrick; and sisters, Annie Smith and Muriel Wilbur.
Calling hours will be held 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Lamoine Baptist Church with the Rev.
