LEE and LINCOLN - Waneta "Nita" (Tucker) Daigle died suddenly and peacefully Dec. 29, 2012. Nita was born Feb. 23, 1930, daughter of Ernest and Ethel Tucker.
She was predeceased by her husband, Hampy Daigle. Nita is survived by her brother, Wayne Tucker; her two children, Linda Sproul and James Daigle; two grandchildren, Daniel Sproul and Nicole Sproul; and four great-grandchildren.
She was a 1948 graduate of Lee Academy. Nita was a loving and devoted wife to Hampy through the good times, the war, and the illness of dementia that took Hampy from her in September 2010. Her devotion to her husband - a goal for most women married so young - came naturally to her, and she did not think of it as anything but her duty as a wife. At the same time, she was always able to keep her orderly, beautiful appearance without letting you forget she was still lovable "Gram Gram." Her faith and beliefs carried her through the bad times and stayed with her during the good times. Many of the good times Nita enjoyed were at their camp where they enjoyed fun-filled gatherings with friends and family. She traveled and collected souvenir banners from all destinations including Paris, Hawaii and countless other places across the United States. She proudly displayed these as reminders of the joy that traveling brought her and her husband. She incorporated herself at the Knights of Columbus where she helped whenever she could. She greatly enjoyed her last months at the Country Villa, Bangor, where she was surrounded by friends and fun times to add to her life memories. Nita was a loving mother, grandmother and wife, and will forever remain in our hearts as such.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Lincoln Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Those who wish may sign an online register and leave written condolences at www.clayfuneralhome.com
