Stephen W. Mace

DOVER-FOXCROFT - Stephen W. Mace, 55, passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2014, at home with his loving family by his side. The son of Ronald L. Sr., and Patricia B. Mace, he was born March 16, 1958, in Shirley.

A U.S. Army Veteran, Stephen worked as a correctional officer for the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Department and for Rowell's Garage as a school bus driver. He was a member of the Dover Family Worship Center, a past member of the Chadbourne-Merrill American Legion Post No. 29 and a member of the United Bikers of Maine.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Aine (LaComfora) Mace of Dover-Foxcroft; and three daughters, Elizabeth Mace of Warren, Marie Durgin and son-in-law, Rob Durgin, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Maire Hayes of Old Town. Stephen leaves behind three grandchildren that he absolutely adored, Kaylee-Mae Durgin of Dover-Foxcroft, Nathan Durgin of Dover-Foxcroft, and Charlie Maebh O'Brien of Old Town; three brothers, Jeff Mace and his wife, Carol, and their children, Jeff Jr., Michael, and Ashley Mace of Shirley, Ronald Mace Jr. and his wife, Jessica, and their children, Alliya and Elora of Colorado, and Gary Mace of Shirley; a brother-in-law, Paul LaComfora and his wife, Terry, and their children, Jennifer Yaya and Jessica of Worcester, Mass.; along with several extended family members.

Friends are invited to call 5 p.m. until time of memorial service with military honors at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor James Colley officiating.
