Stephen J. Glencross

ORONO - Stephen J. Glencross, 63, died unexpectedly, March 7, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1949, in Bangor, the son of James R. and June E. (Elwell) Glencross.

Steve graduated from Bangor High School, class of 1968, and Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was a Vietnam veteran, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Steve was a local musician and started his music career with the OD's. He was the owner of Glencross Construction for more than 30 years. He was a Maine Guide, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Andrews Lodge 83, Bangor. Steve was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and he was a very open and generous man.

Steve is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sherry (Plummer) Glencross; a son, Sgt. Jason Glencross and his wife, Lacy, of Fort Benning, Ga.; three daughters, Jessica of Eddington, J'Hannah of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Kati of Orono; two grandchildren, Trinity and Talon of Fort Benning, Ga.; a sister, Patty Graf of Nashua, N.H.; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Tank. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Mary Auger.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where relatives and friends may call from noon until the time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
