LEVANT - Robert Chaples "Bob" Russell, beloved husband of Margaret B. "Peggy" Russell, died Feb. 25, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Bangor, son of John and Evelyn Chaples Russell.
Bob lived all his life in the Bangor area, graduating from Bangor High School and the University of Maine. He was employed for 29 years as manager of the American Gear chain of auto parts stores headquartered in Bangor. At age 57 he embarked on a second career as a realtor, representing Quinn Agency until his retirement early in 2012. He specialized in mobile homes and was known to his colleagues as the "Mobile Home King." He was also famous for his love and extensive knowledge of jazz.
Bob was predeceased by a beloved daughter, Dianne Marie Russell; and brother, John L. Russell. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children and stepchildren, Edward Russell and Carolyn of Winterport, Willliam Russell and Hillary of Haddam, Conn., David Russell of Bangor, Roger Craft of Arlington, Texas, Karen Trask of Earlville, N.Y., and Margaret Young of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, Sara Duval, Jared Chapman, Tara Twyman, Rashid Young, Abigail Russell, Adam Russell, Emerald Russell, Christopher Russell, Jasmine Zinser-Craddock, and Caitlin Zinser-Palmieri; nine great-grandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren, Mya Duval, Samantha Chapman, Jamey Chapman, Keane Curtis, DeAngelie Cotto, Isaiah Twyman, Aven Craddock, Rowan Craddock and Eli Palmieri. He will also be missed by his many friends in the fellowship of AA.
There will be a celebration of Bob's life at a time and place to be announced. Burial in the spring will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's name to
