Paul E. Cormier

BANGOR - Paul E. Cormier, 77, husband of Germaine E. (Daigle) Cormier, died Dec. 2, 2012 at a Bangor hospital. He was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Lille, the son of Joseph and Leona (Cyr) Cormier.

Paul grew up in northern Maine and graduated from Van Buren Boys High School. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His work included retail sales with Sleeper's and Benoit's before opening his own retail clothing store, Cormier's Clothing, in downtown Bangor. Paul was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bangor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pine Cone Council No. 114, Bangor, 4th Degree Assembly and American Legion, James Williams Post No. 12.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 53 years, are his three daughters, Lisa Gadoury and her husband, Paul, of Hampden, Sharon Cormier and her husband, Arnie Fessenden, of Bangor, Monica Patterson and her husband, Fred, of Brewer; three grandchildren, Greg Patterson and his fiancee, Julie McDonald, Andrew Patterson and Elizabeth Fessenden; two stepgrandchildren, Jordan Gadoury, Morgan Smith and her husband, Isaac and their daughter, Sophia; one brother, Edgar Cormier and his wife, Rita, of Rhode Island; two sisters, Lucille Parent of Lille, and Sr. Bertha Cormier, S.C.I.M. of Biddeford; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters. The family gratefully thanks the staff of Cancer Care of Maine for their compassionate care. In addition, Paul and the family especially wish to express their gratitude to Paula who touched them with her kindness during his journey through leukemia.

Family and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ohio Street, Bangor. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Care of Maine, care of Healthcare Charities, P.O.
