Oscar Ouellette

ST. FRANCIS - Our beloved father, Oscar Ouellette, 93, passed to eternal life on the evening of Monday, June 17, 2013, in the same house where he was born. He had spent the day doing what he loved-praying and enjoying his home, his family and his many friends. He was born Aug. 15, 1919, in St. Francis, son of Abraham and Marie (Jandreau) Ouellette.

Oscar served his country proudly during World War II aboard the U.S.S. DuPage. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received Jan. 10, 1945, as a result of enemy action in the Southwest Pacific. He was a communicant at St. Charles Catholic Church and a member of Marian Movement of Priests. He had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother and to the Holy Rosary.

He leaves behind his children, Sheldon of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Tammy of St. Francis and Chuck of St. Francis. He had a special fondness for all of the schoolchildren who became his extended family during the 35 years he was employed as a custodian and bus driver at St. Francis Elementary School. He is also survived by brother, Ronald and wife, Winnifred, of Jackman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Nathalie in 1997; brother, Auguste; and sister, Reda.

Friends may call 9-10:15 a.m. Friday, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, at St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis. Committal services with full military honors will be afterward at the parish cemetery. In Oscar's memory, those who wish may donate to Marian Movement of Priests, P.O. Box 8, St. Francis, ME 04774.
