CORINTH - Norman Ivory Buswell, 87, left this world Feb. 26, 2014. He was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Exeter, son of the late Keith and Ruth (Felix) Buswell.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army
serving in The Army of Occupation in Nagasaki, Japan in World War II
. He was discharged in 1947 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked in Corinth for Dow Shingle Mill for many years and Blackwell Lumber for 27 years. Norman retired in 1996. He and his wife, Charlotte (Clark) have been married for 65 years. They raised a family of seven children in Corinth. He enjoyed his family and hunting with his brother, sons and granddaughter, Jen. He was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with friends, and telling stories to his children and grandchildren. He was a long time member of American Legion Post 115 and was Corinth Volunteer Fire Chief for 17 years.
He is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Malcolm and Carroll, sister-in-law, Lizabeth Buswell and brother-in-laws, Robert Lougee and Lewis Leavitt. He is survived by his two sisters, Velma Leavitt of Exeter, Theo Lougee of Corinth and his seven children, Francis & Nancy of Dover, Del, Sharon of Corinth, Gregory & wife, Rena of Tampa, Fl., Cheryl Briggs & husband, Michael of Clarksville, TN., George & wife, Deborah of Corinth, Gail Young & husband, Ralph of Bangor, Brian & wife, Tammy of Stetson; grandchildren, Jennifer Barnes & husband, Scott of Corinth, David Buswell and Monica Buswell of Dover, Del, Lisa Shaw & husband, Robert of Dover, Del., Kevin & wife, Deanna of Woodbridge, Virginia, Kristi Vogel & husband, David of Harrington, Del., Jamie Hoppe of Tampa, Fl., Carly Buswell of Stetson, Abby and Buzzy Young of Bangor; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Sarah Christian, Katie, Stephen, and Benjamin, all of Dover, Del., and two great-great-grandchildren, Kloe and Adam Blake of Dover, Del.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-7 P.M. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service of remembrance will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, March 2, 2014 with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of the Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. Spring interment will be in Corinthian Cemetery.
