Marshall T. Gilbert

GUILFORD - Marshall T. Gilbert, 87, died April 6, 2013, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Dexter, the son of Thomas and Nathalie (Jock) Gilbert.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Wasp in the South Pacific theater and was a member of American Legion. He worked for many years in the local area as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rachel (Cookson) Gilbert of Guilford; three sons, Thomas Gilbert and wife, Andrea, of Guilford, Frank Gilbert and wife, Linda, of Abbot and Darrell Gilbert and wife, Bonnie, of Dexter; three daughters, Marsha Quimby and husband, Randy, of Cambridge, Linda Green of Dexter and Deborah Bailey of Cambridge; sister, Thomasina Blanchard of Stetson; brother, Merle Gilbert and wife, Jeannette, of Parkman; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for their excellent care.
