HOULTON - The Crabbe Family sadly announces the passing of Lyman John Crabbe on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at a local health care facility following an extended illness. Lyman was born July 29, 1930, in Portland, to the late Thelma (Chute) and Linus Crabbe.
Lyman served in the Army
National Guard for several years and was a 50 year member of the Odd Fellows and a member of Monument Lodge No. 96 AF & AM of Houlton. He worked at various jobs but retired from Houlton Water Company after 27 years of service.
He is survived by four sons, Terry and Olivia of Lone Pine, Neb., Randy and Susan of Albion, Ronnie of Portland, and Doug and Jackie of Flagstaff, Ariz.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Louise Hamilton of Houlton. Also his beloved seven sisters, Jean and Wendell Dow, Geraldine and the late Stanley Crandlemire, Uda and Robert McIntosh, Juanita and the late Malcolm Hallett, Edith and the late Paul Newman, Doris and Joe Jurczak, and Kerry and Haldean Palmer; two brothers, Royden and his wife, Elaine, and Blair all of N.B., Canada; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased on September 1975 by his loving wife of 27 years, Ruby Mae Cole Crabbe.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, and where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Dale Holden officiating in conjunction with the Odd Fellows services. Spring interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houlton Humane Society; or to Dana Farber Cancer Institute; or to the charity of one's choice.
