LeRoy Hersey

OAKFIELD - LeRoy Hersey, 81, died Dec. 16, 2012, in Bangor. He was born July 10, 1931, in Oakfield, son of Wilbur and Katherine (Sanders) Hersey.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War in the 47th Division as a platoon leader and received the Purple Heart. He was retired from Bangor & Aroostook Railroad as an engineer.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna (Boutilier) Hersey of Oakfield; five sons, Keith and Brenda Hersey, Glenn and Nancy, Larry and Anna, all of Oakfield, Wendell and Patty of Houlton, and Travis and Amanda of Burke, Va.; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Albert and wife, Leah Hersey, of Oakfield; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and six siblings.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Sterling Lawrence officiating.
