CARMEL - June E. Hodsdon, 80, passed away peacefully Jan. 12, 2014, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born June 27, 1933, in Bangor, the daughter of Adolph and Mildred (Keene) Duplissa.
June grew up in Orono and married the love of her life, Lauris Hodsdon in 1959. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. June loved visiting Hollywood Casino and had made many friends there. She was the Past President and active member of the VFW
Auxiliary in Hampden. June was also the owner and operator of Char Grill in Carmel for many years. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit, her selflessness, and her sincere compassion towards others. June was a woman of dignity and insisted on always looking her best, even in her final days. June was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all that had the pleasure to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Lauris; a son, Stanley Allen and wife, Belinda; sisters, Mary Gilbert and Patricia Duplissa; a brother, Adolph Duplissa and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Andrea, Denise, Stanley, DJ, and Kiana "Pizzy Wizzle"; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a dear friend, Freda Gass; and her favorite little dog, Spunky. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Ruth Eddy and Sheila Johnston.
Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Services will be private for the family. Interment will be in the spring at Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
