Juanita W. (McIntyre) Beaulieu

FORT FAIRFIELD - Juanita W. (McIntyre) Beaulieu, 80, wife of Valere F. Beaulieu, stepped out of the darkness of Alzheimer's disease and into the light of the afterlife on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at a Van Buren nursing facility. She was born March 17, 1933, in Washburn, the daughter of John and Nettie (Kennard) Wilcox.

Juanita, known affectionately as "Nete" or "Neta" retired from Maine Potato Growers, Presque Isle, after several years of service in their farm and garden store. She enjoyed greeting her customers over the years and sharing gardening tips with them. Her own home was well known in Fort Fairfield for its beautiful gardens. She was also very active with the Fort Fairfield VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, serving for several years as treasurer and was presented with a lifetime membership in appreciation for her service to that organization. She was married to Herbert L. McIntyre, May 20, 1950, who passed away Sept. 29, 1976. Juanita later married Valere F. Beaulieu, Nov. 3, 1984.

She was predeceased by her parents, John Wilcox and Nettie (Wilcox) Wright; one brother, Thomas Wilcox; two sisters, Marie Adams and Dee Anderson. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Valere of Fort Fairfield; five children and their spouses, Carol A. (McIntyre) Williams and her husband, Steven, of Mapleton, Rodney L. McIntyre and his wife, Lynn, of Brewer, Robert K. McIntyre and his wife, Debra, of Forks, Wash., Sharon R. (McIntyre) Chamberland and her husband, Leo Paul, of Mapleton, Ronald B. McIntyre and his wife, Bonnie, of Hermon; five stepchildren, Jeff Beaulieu of Presque Isle, Robert Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield, Michael Beaulieu of Presque Isle, Lisa (Beaulieu) Campbell of Fort Fairfield, Dale Beaulieu and his wife, Stephanie, of Fort Fairfield; three sisters, Genevieve Boyne of Presque Isle, Winnifred Brown of Caribou, Melvina Daggett of Canaan; eight treasured grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, numerous stepgrandchildren, great-stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will be held later in the spring at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Juanita to the Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers, 93 Silver St., Waterville, ME 04901 or the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 170 US Route 1, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
