ELLSWORTH - John Jacob Astor Lindsey, 85, passed away March 20, 2013, at his home with his wife and family by his side. He was born Jan. 10, 1928, son of Byron and Vivian (Whalen) Lindsey.
John was a dedicated worker, wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was said by many to be the best heavy equipment operator around, always requested for special jobs. He worked construction for many years for Harold MacQuinn and Bill Peasley. In his early years he worked as a woodsman in mills around the state with horses, chainsaws and equipment. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family. He enjoyed his pets, bird watching, and operating his plow truck and grader. He loved country music, going dancing, and spending time at family gatherings with his large extended family. John was the last of his siblings. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed. We hope they have lots of good country music in heaven, John.
