MILLINOCKET AND CASA GRANDE, ARIZ. - John A. Pineau, 66, died Nov. 6, 2012, with family by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at South Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System, Tucson, Ariz. He was born July 31, 1946, in Millinocket, son of Walter J. and Louise D. (Vienneau) Pineau.
John graduated from Stearns High School, class of 1965. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force
in the Philippines and later in the Vietnam War
. John returned home to marry his sweetheart, Nancy Ferland. In March they celebrated their 42nd anniversary. John worked 43 years at the local paper mill retiring in 2008. Upon retirement, John and his wife moved to Arizona. He enjoyed time spent with his family. He enjoyed the many motorcycle trips covering 48 states. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and Friday night cards with friends.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Ferland) Pineau; son, Scott M. Pineau and wife, Vicki, of Saco; daughter, Cori A. Farmer and husband, Chris, of Millinocket; four wonderful grandsons, Zachary Hathorn and Aiden Farmer, both of Millinocket, and Alexander and Xavier Pineau, both of Saco; mother-in-law, Betty Ferland; sister-in-law, Debra DiCentes and husband, Joel; brother-in-law, James Ferland and wife, Verna; nieces and nephews. John will be sadly missed by his many friends in Maine as well as his friends in Mission Royale. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at the hospice unit of South Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System for the wonderful care that was given to John during his stay.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin's Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
