Henry A. DeSanto

HAMPDEN and BANGOR - Henry A. DeSanto, 96, passed away peacefully Feb. 2, 2013 at a Bangor health care facility. Henry was born Oct. 22, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Henry was a remarkable, resilient and gentle man who was always willing to help and to participate in all life offers. An avid tinkerer and collector, he possessed an insatiable curiosity to know how things are put together and how they work; everything he collected had a usefulness and value, real or potential. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 12th Armored Division, 92nd Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron, stationed in Germany and France.

Henry was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Lillian DeSanto. He is survived by his daughter, Lilian Mahan and her husband, Bill; his sister, Angeline DeSanto; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The DeSanto family thanks the staff of Ross Manor, his dear friends, Carol and Josephine, and the residents and staff of Sylvia Ross Home for the love, care and comfort given to him during his time with them.

Interment will held in the spring at a date and time to be announced beside his wife at Mount Hope Cemetery.
