Gerard "Gerry" Guimond

FORT FAIRFIELD - Gerard J. "Gerry" Guimond, 66, passed away Wednesday evening, January 1, 2014 at a Van Buren nursing facility, after a brief but courage battle with cancer. He was born March 2, 1947 in Fort Kent, the son of Zenon and Irena (Belanager) Guimond.

He attended Fort Kent schools and had been employed for many years at the A&P, later Interstate Foods Processing Plant, Fort Fairfield, and McCain Foods, Easton for over fifteen years. Gerry had been a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield for many years. He was a hard worker who helped anyone in need of assistance. He loved to hunt and fish and was a good friend to all. His family will remember him as an outstanding father, grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his parents, Gerard was predeceased by one brother, Rosaire Guimond. He is survived by one son, Gerry L. Guimond of Fort Fairfield; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Nancy Guimond of Fort Fairfield, Emile and Joanne Guimond of Bristol, CT, Zenon Jr. and Christina Guimond of Rockland; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Garnet Rochford of Fort Fairfield, Delores Holmes of Saco, Theresa and Reginald Bouchard of Greene, Doris and Lloyd Hersey of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Charles T., Joseph L. and Matthew E. Guimond, all of Fort Fairfield. He also leaves behind his very best friend, Carvell Cote of Fort Fairfield, as well as close friends Vince and Wanda Clark of Waldorf, MD; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, January 6, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. with Father Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the funeral service. Spring interment will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Guimond to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O. Box 811, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
