Erroll Elbridge Grant Sr.

SANGERVILLE - Erroll Elbridge Grant Sr., 93, passed away peacefully at his home on Aug. 16, 2013. He was born June 3, 1920, in Cherryfield, son of Harlan and Mary Jane (Morse) Grant.

Erroll served his country in the Air Force in World War II. He enjoyed showing pictures of his Air Force buddies.

Erroll married Beatrice M. Perkins in June 1946 and they lived in Abbot until her death in 2002. He sold his house four years later and has resided at Oaks Manor in Sangerville.

Erroll belonged to the American Legion in Guilford for many years. He had a camp on Lake Hebron in Monson, which he enjoyed going to in earlier years. He liked to hunt and fish with his son and buddies.

He worked as postmaster in Abbot for 20 years where he befriended many people.

He is survived by two sisters, Iona Austin and Roberta Black; one brother, Homer Grant; one son, Erroll E. Grant Jr., of Bangor; two daughters, Noreen Crocker of Guilford and Sandra Boyce of Wells River, Vt.; five grandchildren, Tara Harper of Enfield, Heidi Sudsbury of Dover Foxcroft, Derrick Crocker of Brewer, Laurie Ford of Bangor and Donnie Ford of Bridgeton; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and one due in three weeks.

Services will be private for the family. There will be a military graveside service at a later date in Abbot. The cemetery on the Monson Road by Abbot Town Hall. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
