BUCKSPORT - Ernest H. Davenport Jr., 67, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, with his loving family by his side. He was born Nov. 24, 1945, in Dixmont, son of Ernest H. Sr. and Lillian (Curtis) Davenport.
Ernest was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He served in the U.S. Navy
and he worked for and retired from Verso Paper Co. after 39 years of service. Ernest enjoyed working around his home, mowing the lawn and spending time in his garage woodworking. He served as a Boy Scout leader and as a firefighter
in the town of Bucksport. He and his wife, Lynn, enjoyed traveling whenever possible, he was truly a family man.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Lynn M. (Johnson) Davenport; five children, Marc Davenport and wife, Jennifer, Amy Davenport, Barbara Carrigan, Glen Kennedy and wife, Hillary, and Audrey Savoy and husband, Bryan; grandchildren, Kimberly and Brandon Davenport, Delayne and Gabriel Carrigan, Cullen, Kylie and Amelia Kennedy, and Charlie, Kennedy and Wallace Savoy; special canine grandson, Diesel; as well as very many special, loving and caring friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an aunt, Nell Ward.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at Franklin Street United Methodist Church, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment with military honors will be held after the service at Riverview Cemetery, Route 15, Bucksport.
