BROOKLIN - Elwood Wallace Carter, 67, passed away Oct. 8, 2013, at home with his family by his side. He was born May 26, 1946, the son of Harry and Ida Carter.
Elwood served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War
before and after he worked at Callahan & Blackhawk copper mines. Elwood also worked as a caretaker for several estates in Brooklin. Working for the Emory's before semi-retiring. During this period he also served on the Brooklin School Board.
Elwood is survived by his wife, Nota of 47 years; daughter, Lisa Carter-Gross and husband, Donald Gross, and very special grandson, Shaine (Joseph) Gross; son, Troy E. Carter; sister, Harriet Grindle; two brothers, Carl and wife, Joyce, and Robert and wife, Debbie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Gordon; sister, Grace Astbury; and nephew, Micheal Winters.
A celebration of life will take place 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Brooklin IOOF Lodge.
