Dale F. Crawford

DREW PLANTATION - Dale F. Crawford, 68, died Dec. 21, 2012, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with a long term illness. He was born May 2, 1944, in Drew Plantation, the son of Percy and Delorosa "Dot" (Cottle) Crawford.

Dale attended school in Wytopitlock. He was passionate about being a truck driver. When not driving, his favorite hobby was spending time in his garage working on his trucks where he was frequented by many visits from friends and a lot of memories were made. One thing everyone knew about Dale was not to ask him for his opinion if you really did not want to know because he was going to tell you exactly what he was thinking. Dale was known for loving to have fun, his strong work ethic, quick wit and strong will. Quitting was not an option for Dale, which he continued to demonstrate until the end. As family and friends reminisce each story begins with a laugh because anyone who knew Dale knows the punch line is going to be good!

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Harry Crawford Sr. and his son, Harry "Chuggie" Crawford Jr.; father-in-law, Donald McCannell; and brother-in-law, Victor Hanington. In addition to his wife, Donna of Drew Plantation, Dale is survived by their two loving children: daughter, Julie Howland and her husband, Todd, of Bangor, and their son, Adam; and son, Percy Crawford and his wife, Anita, of West Enfield, and their children, Holden, Lucas, Cierra and Percy Jr.; a sister, Joan (Crawford) Hanington of Millinocket; a sister, Janice (Crawford) Wilcox and her husband, Willie, of Bangor; a brother, Robin "Bob" Crawford Sr. and his wife, Lois, of Lincoln; mother-in-law, Essie McCannell of Bradley; two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Joan and Bob modeled an unwaivering devotion to their brother making sure a week never went by without a visit to him. The family would like to express special appreciation to Dr. Toby Atkins and his providers, CHCS Hospice, Brewer Rehab and Woodlands of Brewer for the wonderful care he was given.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date after the holiday. Condolences may be expressed at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
