Charles "Smokey" Darr

BANGOR AND DOVER-FOXCROFT - Charles "Smokey" Darr, 88 ,died Dec. 22, 2013 at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born in Newark, Ohio, April 20 1925, the son of Floyd and Gladys (Claggett) Darr.

Charles served in WW II in the U.S. Navy as an electrician mate. He joined the Air Force and retired in 1970 as a radar tec. After retiring he worked at Guilford Industries as a boiler tec. He was a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and loved black powder guns. He belonged to Gun Clubs all over the world and was a member of the Big Pine gun club and enjoyed a good cigar.

Charles was predeceased by his wife, Norma. He is survived by his cousin, Kimberly Claggett of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Barlow and Betty Knapp, both of Pennsylvania; and good friend, Dana Bouchard of Charleston.

Spring burial will be in the Dover Cemetery under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Directors, Bangor.
