Carlton Dean Monk

CODYVILLE PLANTATION - Carlton Dean Monk, 67, husband of Grace (Grass) Monk, died Jan. 18, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 30, 1946, in Codyville Plantation, the son of Lloyd and Thelma (Amero) Monk.

Carlton graduated from Lee Academy, class of 1964. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He loved sports, and was a fan of all the New England teams. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife, Grace, he is survived by three children, Troy Monk and his wife, Crystal, Todd Monk and his wife, Bridget, and Tami Lane and her husband, Kevin; three brothers, Vaughn Monk and his wife, Marion, Lloyd Monk and his wife, Joan, and Greg Monk; six grandchildren, Christopher, Shawna, Justin, Alexis, Isabella and Taylor; a special brother-in-law, Bill Grass; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Yvonne Bean.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Bethel Chapel, Talmadge, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Thomas Smith officiating.
