The Beauty of Estée Lauder

4/24/2012
"If you have a goal, if you want to be successful, if you really want to do it and become another Estée Lauder, you've got to work hard, you've got to stick to it and you've got to believe in what you're doing." - Estée Lauder

The secret to success, according to make-up maven Estée Lauder: hard work, perseverance and determination. It was this relatively simple formula that propelled Lauder from her early life in Queens, as one of nine children born to Eastern European Jewish immigrants, to head of her own international cosmetics conglomerate. From the beginning, when she was a teen helping market and sell her uncle's face creams, Estée Lauder worked. She became known for her hand-on sales techniques, visiting every new store or cosmetics counter opening, even after she became successful and famous. And her hard work paid off: in 1998, she was the only woman selected for TIME magazine's 1998 list of the 20 most influential business geniuses of the 20th century.

Estée Lauder died eight years ago today, but her makeup, skin care products, and fragrances are still beloved. We're honoring her legacy to the world of beauty with a Pinterest photo gallery featuring images of the businesswoman herself, along with some of her most popular products and advertising campaigns.
