BANGOR - Willis "Roy" L. Long, 92, died May 6, 2012, at a Bangor nursing home. He was born April 19, 1920, in Blacks Harbor, New Brunswick, the son of Moses E. and Elizabeth M. (Dudley) Long. Roy served in the U.S. Army and he was a veteran of World War II. He was a salesman for WABI radio and television, wedding photographer, and sold life insurance for American Family Insurance Co. Roy was a kind and generous man who would go out of his way to help others. Roy especially loved his wife of 56 years, Florence E. (Hall) Long, and his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him. Roy enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable gardens, taking pictures professionally and as a hobby, and his love for dogs. Roy is survived by his wife, Florence E. Long; a son, Jim Long of Florida; daughters, Cheryl Long of Orono, Carol Long of Bangor, Nancy Crossman and her husband, Fred, of Bucksport and Sharon Noyes and family of Indiana; grandchildren, Jaime Randall and her husband, Matt, of Glenburn, Duane McCartar of Bangor, Tammy Crossman of Bucksport and Fred Crossman Jr. of Virginia; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Harley Randall of Glenburn and Rhonan McCartar of Portland; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 13 sisters. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, with the Rev. Scott McPhedran officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
