His final days were spent surrounded by his family, relatives and many friends. He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1942. Larry enlisted in the Maine Army National Guard at the age of 18. He was called to active duty during World War II and served for two years in the 462nd Pacific Theatre of Operations.
