EXETER - Joseph Clayton Sweet, 27, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, as the result of an accident near his home. He was born April 17, 1986, in Bangor, a son of Ronald and Mary (Ambrose) Sweet Jr.

Joey was a 2004 graduate of Dexter Regional High School. He was in all of the school plays during his time there and was always anxious to play as many parts as he could. He currently was employed at McDonald's Restaurant in Newport. He also won a number of gold medals in the Special Olympics.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Vivian Perkins of Corinth; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Gould of Dexter; paternal grandfather, Ron Sweet Sr. of Newport; maternal grandmother, Lillie Ambrose of Sangerville; paternal great-grandmother, Jessie Brann Herring of Dexter; a brother, Bryce Sweet of Exeter; two sisters, Sara Sweet of Skowhegan, and Kalea Sweet of Exeter; a special niece, Keira Sweet-Brown of Exeter; and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins. Joey will be remembered for being a kind, loving young man. He loved all of his family and friends, especially Ben and his wife, Ashley Pomelow, of Corinth. Joey was predeceased by his grandfather, Clayton Joseph Ambrose.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Dexter, with the Rev. David Lassell officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
