BANGOR - Haddy Phillip Hamm, 81, died June 24, 2014, with his family at his bed side. Haddy was born January 20, 1933, in Blue Hill, the son of Freeman Hamm and Harriet Gray.

Haddy was known as "Phil" to his family and friends. Phil received his G.E.D. through the Department of Education, Augusta, in 1968. He married Dorothy Ann Plummer of Bangor in 1955. Phil was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and was employed as a foreman at Eastern Fine Paper Mill until he retired. Phil enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, hunting and especially the coast. Phil was a member of St. Mary's Church, Mary Knoll, VFW, DAV and helped start the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen in 1980. Phil was an honorary member of Boys Town and he was a friend of Bill Wilson.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dottie. He leaves behind three sons and a daughter, Phil, Dawn, Mark and Chris. He was loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, with Military Honors, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta. Those who wish to remember Phil in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401 or Boys Town, P.O.
