MILFORD - George J. Cote, 81, died peacefully June 25, 2013, at his residence. He was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Old Town, a son of Eugene and Rosanna (Baillargeon) Cote.

He was employed in New York City building tunnel systems and retired as a supervisor in 1984, after 27 years of service. He was a member of Elks Lodge BPOE 1287 and Fr. Druillette Council Knights of Columbus of Old Town. He will be remembered as a great fly fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors and tying his own flies. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Joan, cared deeply for his family and worked hard to make sure they were well provided for. He was a people person, enjoyed yardsaling, always enjoyed a good laugh and enjoyed many special outings with brothers and sisters.

He is survived by a daughter, Laurie Kenny and her husband, Walter, of Milford; a son, Tony Cote and his fiancée, Debbie Shannon, of Milford; twin grandsons, Adam and Nickalas Kenny; granddaughters, Michelle Paterson and her husband, Tom, of Lebanon and Amanda McDonald and her husband, Taylor, of Lebanon; grandson, Robert Kenny of Hermon; six sisters and four brothers, Theresa Tousaint of Connecticut, Wallace Cote and his wife, Theresa, of Bradley, Donald Cote and his wife, Linda, of Sommesville, Bernice Curtis and her husband, Fernald, of Milford, Lester Cote of Milford, Betty Ann Riva and her husband, Fran, of Old Town, Linda Deshane and her husband, William, of Milford, Joyce Stallings of Florida, Donna Hersey and her husband, Al, of Bangor, Francis Cote and his wife, Jean, of Sabattus; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Dubay) Cote in 2006; a son, Edward Paul Cote; a brother, Robert Cote; and a sister, Rita Spiess.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Immediately after services, all are invited to return to the parish hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship. Memorial contributions may be sent to an education fund for his grandsons, care of Laurie Kenny, 434 Main Road, Milford, ME 04461.
